The name has changed in the South. BCB Southern has become the prime bank for the transfer of Prime Bank. But at the end of another season of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), the Champions Trophy came to the south. Abdur Razzak won the BCL title for the third time and for the fifth time, beating Islami Bank Eastern by 5 runs in the final at Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
The BCL final was five days. The match ended in four days. South Africa started the fourth day with 121 for 5 and were all out for 5 in the second innings. All-rounder Mehdi Hassan came from the bat of the last 5 runs. The young pacer Hasan Mahmud has hit the bouncer with a six and a 20-year-old Fifty. In the next over, Mehndi made a catch in the slip by Pinak Ghosh and Hussein finished the innings in the South. Hasan, who got a 4-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the Test squad for Bangladesh.
Purple got a 5-run target for the champion. Shafiul Islam and Al Amin Hossain, two pacers from the south, picked up four Eastern batsmen Mohammad Ashraful, captain Imrul Quayes and Pinak Ghosh for the third wicket. Ashraful and Imrul both gave wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan a catch.
Mahmudul Hassan took the lead with Afif Hossain adding 4 runs in the fourth wicket. Mahmudul returned as the sixth batsman to leave the team at 5 for four after suffering a stumping on Mehdi’s off-spin. Former Bangladesh Under-5 team captain Mahmudul scored four runs and four sixes in his six. Then lost the regular wicket to leave all-out for 28.
